Reiki is a "spiritually guided life force energy" that treats the whole person body, emotions, mind and spirit. It was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900's. The word “Reiki” pronounced "ray-key" comes from the Japanese words “Rei” which means universal or divine and “ki” which means spirit, energy or life force and represents the universal spirit coming together within you.
A Reiki practice involves working with the eternal present moment.
Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" or hands raised above the body and is based on the principle that an unseen "life force energy" flows through all of us and if one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. People are born with the natural ability to heal and repair themselves however this can become suppressed during periods of anxiety, stress, or illness.
In a Reiki Treatment You Are The Healer
This is achieved by a Reiki practitioner channelling a flow of universal life force energy through their hands stimulating the bodys natural healing ability, clearing energetic blockages and restoring the natural energy flow around the body.
The benefits of Reiki can be experienced after just one treatment. For a positive effect on long term health problems, it is most likely that a course of treatments will be required and recommend having treatments on a regular basis to support you in maintaining good health and a feeling of well-being.
Reiki is extremely effective in helping cancer patients manage anxiety and fear and can be used alongside conventional medicine in cancer support and palliative care to help with the physical and emotional effects of the condition.
Your first treatment will start with a short health consultation to discuss your medical history and anything that may be causing you stress or concern and answer any questions you may have. You then relax on my heated therapy couch with your shoes removed, your head, back and knees all supported and a blanket over your body to keep you warm and comfortable at which point the treatment will begin.
